LIFE MODERn(NEC)
The project LIFE20 GIE/IT/000091—LIFE MODERn (NEC) (New Monitoring system to Detect the Effects of Reduced pollutants emissions resulting from NEC Directive adoption; 2021-2025), aimed to improve the system of evaluation of the impacts of air pollution and climate change on forest and freshwater ecosystems in Italy, to comply with the NEC Directive.
The objective was achieved by improving the current Italian monitoring network with 4 new sites in forest environments and 6 new freshwater sites, for a total of 20 sites. Furthermore, new indicators and protocols were developed to increase the knowledge on the effects of air pollution on ecosystems under the pressure of climate change.
The project was coordinated by Arma dei Carabinieri – Comando Unità Forestali, Ambientali e Agroalimentari (CUFAA).
TerraData was an associated partner, and it was responsible for the implementation of Action B3, dealing with the implementation and testing of existing and newly proposed indicators at the already existing and the newly selected monitoring sites
